Ona Speedway is West Virginia’s only asphalt track measuring 3/8 mile. It is located in Ona, WV approximately halfway between Charleston and Huntington. Ona Speedway has been known by many names over the years. These names include Huntington International Speedway and under the ownership of Dick Clark it was known as Dick Clark’s International Raceway Park.

Ona Speedway’s long history began on August 18, 1963, when it was known as WV International Speedway. The race was called “The Mountaineer 300" and was a NASCAR Grand National Race. It was estimated that 16,000 people turned out for “The Mountaineer 300.”

The track remained open for several years before shutting down around 1975. Many racing legends began their career at Ona Speedway. These names include......Richard Petty, Ned Jarrett and Buck Baker just to name a few.

In 1995, the track was reopened by Donnie Chapman and had several successful seasons. In 1999, Donnie Chapman leased the track out but it soon closed again. Between that time and now, the track has hosted special racing events and several very successful seasons running multiple classes.

In February 2007, the track was purchased by Bill & Lynn Bauer.
We are very excited about the new owners and the future of Ona Speedway.
